Once it is really warm out, I find that I like to cut down and edit my skincare and makeup routine to be as simple and quick as possible.
I like to keep a limited and simplified skincare and makeup routine at my family’s home in Maine – so that when I head up there for weekends, I don’t need to bring any cosmetics with me. So I thought I would share my simple summer skincare routine with you all!
I have narrowed down skincare routine to just 4-5 steps. If it is the nighttime, I start by taking off any makeup or sunscreen with my favorite makeup remover, Bioderma’s Micellar Water. I just squirt a lot on two cotton pads (of course any cotton pad will work but I swear by this version that I buy on Amazon.) Next, I do a second cleanse with this classic facewash (a forever drugstore favorite!) One my skin is clean, I use two pumps of the Deliverance Serum from Dieux Skincare – I find this to be a great simple serum to help my uneven skin tone and calm my skin. And finally, I moisturize my skin with Instant Angel (I LOVE this product, it is simple in the best way!)
In the daytime, I do a condensed version of this skincare routine. Typically just a quick wash of my face with Cetaphil followed by the Deliverance Serum. Then, depending on the day I will use my moisturizer or maybe skip that step and jump right into sunscreen. I am always trying new sunscreens, but as of late I have been trying this Anthelios version or sticking with my tried and true favorite, EltaMD.
For my summer makeup – I also like to keep my routine to a small group of lightweight and minimal products. After using it for a few months, I am happy to report back that I am really happy with the Skin Activator Serum from Westman Atelier – it makes my skin feel calm and bright and is a wonderful base layer prior to makeup. Next, I will follow up with Saie’s Tinted Moisturizer – in the warm summer months I prefer a lightweight product like this vs a heavy foundation. I will then go in with the Merit Concealer Stick anywhere that needs a bit of love – usually under my eyes and on top of any blemishes.
For the past week, I have been trying out Westman Atelier’s new Liquid Super Illuminator and I am not sure about it quite yet…it certainly feels nice on my skin and gives a pretty glow/shimmer but I am not sure it is that unique or different compared to other liquid bronzers. (Stay tuned, as I use this more over the next few weeks I will report back!)
I finish off my simple summer makeup look with Eyebrow Gel from Merit, a quick swipe of Ilia Mascara and Goop Lip Balm.
