For what feels like years, I have had a Marfa Stance jacket on my shopping wish list! I first learned about the British brand via my friend Madison, the founder of Fewer Finer (she always has the best finds!) Marfa Stance, a British brand, was founded by Gerogia Dant in 2019, after a career at Burberry, with the goal of creating multi-functional and season-less coats and clothing. The outerwear brand specializes in modular, layerable, and adjustable elements. This allows you to build the perfect coat that matches your personal style. This could mean a reversible quilted base coat, a removable shearling vest layer, and interchangeable collars and hoods.
You all know I love a great winter coat! My collection includes a beautiful Camel Wool/Cashmere style from Toteme and a Black Wool Coat from Veronica Beard. But what I did not have is a great puffer or quilted jacket for the autumn and winter months in New York City. While the coats and layers from Marfa Stance are certainly luxury items ($1,000+ for a quilted jacket) I knew one of their jackets would be a great investment. After admiring the jackets for multiple months, saving up and trying the coat styles on a few times, I knew it would be a purchase I would not regret.
After trying on countless colors and styles, I determined that the Marfa Stance jacket that was the best fit for me was the Signature Quilt Jacket in Pale Sage / Pale Yellow in size XL. I also purchased their Aviator Collar. It’s a removable accessory layer that I could add to the coat during the colder months. The reversible quilted jacket is made of a water-repellent, lightweight nylon. I love the oversized pockets that are included on both sides. (I often don’t carry a purse when I wear this jacket. All my necessities can easily fit in the large pockets.) And I like that the cut of the Signature Jacket is oversized with drop shoulders and loose sleeves. This allows you to easily pair the jacket with countless outfits and layer thick sweaters comfortable underneath.
In time, I hope to keep adding to my Marfa Stance collection. And also buy more of their modular layers to allow this jacket to work for various weathers and temperatures. Next up on my wishlist is their Shearling Vest Liner. It will add an additional layer of warmth for the cold winter months. I also think adding a hood could be great for the chilly New York winter days.
If a Marfa Stance coat is also on your shopping wishlist, I highly suggest trying the various jacket styles on in person to determine the best fit (though there is a helpful size chart on their website.) The Signature Quilt Jacket (but in general, I think most of their pieces) are slightly oversized and cut for a loose fit. So you could consider sizing down (but I didn’t want to snug of a fit, as I want to be sure I can easily wear sweaters and chunky layers underneath. The brand holds many pop up events in the US or Europe. So hopefully one will be in your area so you can try the styles in person.
