Gift Guide: The Creative

For the needlepointer, knitter, artist and crafter!

Welcome to the 2020 Simply Elegant Gift Guide!

Over the next two weeks I will share a range of gift ideas that I hope will be inspiring and helpful as you do your holiday shopping this year. First up, gifts for ‘The Creative’ in your life – the needle-pointer, the artist, the crafter and all around DIY-er. Stay tuned for more gift ideas in the coming days!

A wonderful gift for anyone who loves interior design as the pages are filled spaces featuring beautiful hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper.

The perfect gift for anyone in your life who might want to try their hand at needlepoint (young or old!) These kits from Loop come in a range of simple patterns and include everything you need to get started (canvas, thread, needle and a bag to keep everything together.)

Fish Earrings.png

I just found this brand recently and I am in love with all of their earrings ! So many fun styles – now I just need to narrow it down to a favorite and I think this fish style might be so fun to wear in Maine this summer.

P.S. love that this brand is based north of Boston.

Make it personal with a chic sweater from Le Lion.

In our family – we love to give very PRACTICAL gifts. This label maker is just that, it might not seem like the most exciting gift at first but any true creative/crafter is going to have a lot of supplies to organize and more than enough time on their hands to spend re-arranging and labeling come the new year. I have this exact label maker and use it far more often than you might ever imagine.

Molly Mahon Block Print Kit.png

I have long admired Molly Mahon’s cheerful block printed fabrics and wallpapers; it is fun to see that she is offering a range of DIY kits this holiday season.

Mariana Barran Goodall’s creates stunning embroidery work and she is now offering a range of zoom classes. Prior to Christmas, she is hosting two classes with fellow creative Riley Sheehey that sound wonderful (a great early holiday gift perhaps!)

Set of 24 Colored Pencils from Pieceworks

Who does not need a more color in their day! We love this set of colored pencils for any creative.

How sweet is this little watercolor kit? All of the paints are made by hand in Brooklyn. (If you are looking for a more budget friendly option – here is an alternative.)

I was gifted this calendar last year and it was such a fun gift because I think of my friend each time I see it on my desk and change out the month. I love Inslee’s whimsical illustrations!

Any creative would be sure to appreciate these beautiful framed intaglios, available in a range of sizes and on various backgrounds.

If there was ever a time to learn to knit, now seems just about perfect! My mom and I just came across the newly launched brand Smoke & Slate that offers a range of beginner friendly knitting kits from this hat to baby blankets. and scarfs.

If your giftee loves a statement earring, don’t forget that a fun statement necklace might be the perfect gift to add to their collection.

IPad Drawing Course with Isla Simpson.png

Give the gift of learning how to draw on their iPad with their Apple Pencil thanks to this online course by the talented illustrator, Isla Simpson.

(See my full review of this course here.)

How cute is this embroidered L.L.Bean Tote Bag for the needle-pointer in your life? A great way for her to store all her projects or to take her canvases on the go.

Because any creative gal could use more personalized stationery! And I love this fun set designed by UK based creative, Matilda Gold for Papier.
