I spent the past weekend reading Tom Scheerer’s new book, More Decorating.

I have always admired his work – the living room at Lyford Cay Club – PERFECTION. I spent this past Sunday morning sipping my coffee and browsing through Tom’s almost 300-page monograph. I love being able to flip from one beautiful project to another. Design books are so inspiring in that way – providing the reader the opportunity to see a vast portfolio of one designer’s work. A book allows you to get a sense of their taste and style. You might follow a designer on Instagram and see their projects in magazines – but when you can see one project after another, it is much more impactful. You can spot similarities between the projects and have a stronger understanding of their point of view. A monograph by a designer allows you to start to understand their signature style!

As I read through the three sections of Tom’s book: Town, Summer and Tropics. I started to spot Tom Scheerer signatures – Saarinen dining tables, wicker furniture (often from the Bielecky Brothers,) canopy beds, Billy Baldwin slipper chairs, and Quadrille!

I would highly suggest picking up a copy of Tom Scheerer More Decorating at your local bookstore; you will not be disappointed. I loved it so much that I now need to go out and purchase his first book, Tom Scheerer Decorates (from 2013.)
