Tonight is one of my favorite nights in fashion, the MET Gala. It is always fun to see how celebrities select their outfits in relation to the theme. Last years theme was PUNK and some people fit the theme while still looking fabulous, like Blake Lively, Hailee Steinfeld, and Sarah Jessica Parker (love the dress, but never understood the strange head piece haha.) Then some celebrities just didn’t hit the mark; Nicole Richie’s grey hair, Kim Kardashian’s floral disaster (I am usual a fan of the Kardashian fam, but sorry not this time) and of course Miley Cirus. I understand that some of them might have been really trying to go with the theme, but some times it can just get to be too much.
However, this year I suspect we will see a collection of more classic gowns due to the night’s honoree, Charles James. Have you heard of him, I hadn’t either until I googled him and learned that he is considered to be America’s first couturier designer. This Woman’s Wear Daily’s article can fill you in on everything we need to know.
But as you can see above, the images I included in this post have nothing to do with the fashion at the MET gala, but instead the decor! I feel like we will see many blog posts about our favorite outfits so I thought it would be fun to highlight a equally grand element that is less talked about, the decorations. Wow, do they go all out! Here I have rounded up my favorite designs from the past years. It is so fun to see how the decor matches the honoree; the classic nature of the design in 2005 for Chanel in contrast to the zebra print carpet in 2009. The tree lined walkway in 2008 and the flowers in 2011, talk about perfection!
I don’t know about you all, but tonight I will be definitely checking Vogue’s website for pictures from the red carpet as well as views of the decorations!
